You look Great

Written, directed, and starring Justin Andrew Davis

After secretly struggling with his weight for years, Peter's body shame pushes him further than ever before in pursuit of complete control.

Inspired by my personal experiences with eating disorders, You Look Great is an unflinching, intimate look into our addictions, obsessions, and self-consciousness.

The narrative follows Peter over the course of 24 hours, offering a realistic insight into a strangely unrepresented story: that of a man fighting to hide his unhealthy relationship with his body. From home, to work, to simply walking down the street, we watch as Peter battles an all-consuming illness, one bent on isolating him from every part of his waking life.

Following film festival success, I have been fortunate enough to use You Look Great as a conversation starter about men’s mental health with the National Eating Disorder Association, through both a Facebook Live interview (now with over 3k views) and a personal essay on childhood bullying and weight shaming. I’ve also had the opportunity to host an educational screening and Q&A at Seton Hall University in collaboration with clinical psychologist John Machalba.
